
AARHUS (DENMARK) IS PREPARING TO HOST THREE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS
The second biggest city in Denmark is preparing to host three 3-Cushion European Championships:
The European Championship 3-Cushion U25, March 28th to 30th.
The European Championship 3-Cushion Ladies National Teams, April 1st and 2nd.
The European Championship 3-Cushion Ladies, April 3rd to 5th.
The venue is the so called DOKK1, a futuristic building which is a government building, a public library, a culture center with many services, located on the waterfront on the former location of the industrial harbor. The DDBU (Danish Billiards Federation) is the organizer under the auspices of the CEB.
The first event planned is the U25 championship by the end of this week, from Friday to Sunday. The current title holder Burak Hashas is not participating. It is the 4th edition of this championship introduced by the CEB in 2021. 24 elite players from 10 CEB national federations are divided into 8 groups of 3. Best two from each group will advance to the last 16 KO round and will continue with quarters final, semifinals and final.
Next week will be the time of women championships. The first to be played will be the National Teams Championship with 12 representatives from 10 CEB national federations. It is the third edition of this championship that the CEB has recently introduced and the Dutch team (Therese Klompenhouwer and Karina Jetten) is the defending champion who won the first two editions.
The last one will be the individual women championship where again a Dutch representative, Therese Klompenhouwer, will defend the title and she will try to catch her 12th consecutive European title from when this championship exists (2005). The current world champion Charlotte Sørensen is among the participants.
All the games are played on Simonis cloth with Aramith billiard balls.
