This week, 27-29 Dec, CEB organised a 3-cushion training camp for youth in Tilburg, the Netherlands, together with the Dutch federation. CEB’s partnership with Longoni Cues to develop the youth billiard made it possible to offer the players the camp for free (housing, meals, training and other activities).
6 players were selected by their federations, based on the latest EC U21 3-cushion ranking: Gonçalo Santos (POR), Toon Bollansee (BEL), Luca Philipoom (NED), Joris Van ’T Zelfden (NED), Tangui Duriez (FRA) and Amir Ibraimov (GER). For two days the players were coached by Jean Paul De Bruijn and Huub Wilkowski, the latter replacing Christ van der Smissen due to illness. Outside the billiard room there was also time for other activities together, such as go-carts. These camps are a good way to strengthen the friendship between the players while at the same time sharpen the skills they will need in the youth tournaments, where competition is fierce. Many of the youth players also compete on the regular circuit, another way to hone their skills and get valuable experience.
