COUPE D'EUROPE 5-PIN CLUB TEAMS ON ITS DEBUT

From tomorrow June 2nd until Sunday 5th a new competition will be on the scene for the discipline of 5-pin: the Coupe d'Europe 5-pin club teams.
It is indeed a debut for this new Coupe d'Europe. It is an evolution under a new format and with the prestige of a Coupe d'Europe of the formerly competition known as Euro League back in 2018.
Its launch was initially planned in 2019, then it was postponed for the pandemic, and now it is finally ready to start.

It will take place in Roeselare (Belgium) in the premises of The New Arena, home of the DOS Roeselare team, under the auspices of the Royal Belgian Billiard Federation.

Teams from 14 clubs from 8 CEB National Federations will compete for the first edition of this prestigious trophy.

Day 1: In the first day we already watched to some thrilling matches: the relay between the Belgian team DOS Roeselare and the Danish SKD was spectacular and ended 158-160 in favor of the Danish. In the other groups we had clear 5-0 victories for the Danish team of Ikast an the two Swiss teams of BC Fribourg and Diamante Lugano.

Day 2: a moving day in Roeselare, the finalists field is not complete yet. We witnessed a lot of nice matches and also a ladies match between KUREčKOVá Adéla  (BC KLADNO) VS SCHOLZE Petra (WBA). Tomorrow morning the final matches will take us into the full quarterfinals setup.

Day 3: last group matches made it clear the field for quarter finals.

Quarter finals:

SKD (Denmark) vs IKAST (Denmark) 
Diamante Lugano (Switzerland) vs STBA (Belgium)
BC Fribourg (Switzerland) vs TJ BIZUTERIE JABLONEC NAD NISOU (Czech Republic)
SBC Annoeullinois (France) vs DOS Roeselare (Belgium)

The two Swiss teams of Lugano Diamante and BC Fribourg got their ticket for the semifinals with victories in the singles and in the double. The other two had to go through two incredible relay deciders. At the end the score was in favor of the home team of DOS Roeselare and BC Ikast.

Semifinals:

Ikast vs Diamante Lugano
BC Fribourg vs Dos Roeselare

Day 4:  Semifinals.
Lugano starts with 3-0 against Ikast winning the two singles and the double. Both singles matches were decided in the last shots, in particular in the match between youngster Cosimo Margiotta and Kasper Kristoffersen. Lugano Diamante is therefore the first finalist. Fribourg and Roeselare won one singles each, with a super match between Paolo Spadaro and Thomas Primon, where the representative from DOS gained the victory in a thrilling final of the match after a huge comeback from Spadaro. The double was in favor of Fribourg so a relay was needed and was Fribourg to finally win and got the ticket for the final.
