In Blois, France, the 15th World Championship 3-cushion Juniors and the 12th World Championship 3-Cushion Ladies are on their starting blocks.
The 2 events will take place one after the other in the Complexe Sportif Éric Tabarly, from 10th to 15th September, organized by the French Billiard Federation under the auspices of UMB and CEB.
Both fields are filled by the best 24 athletes from all over the world and will play with the same format: 8 groups of 3 followed by a direct elimination stage for 16.
The Korean reigning Ladies World Champion Lee Shin Young is not defending her title. The European troop is the largest with 12 representatives of 10 CEB federation. The organizer wild card has been awarded to Magali Declunder, France. Therese Klompenhouwer (current European Champion) is chasing her 6th world title and is of course one of the favourites, even if there will be no shortage of fierce opponents both from inside and outside the European continent (see players list).
In the Juniors competition the Title Holder is Myeong Gyu Oh from South Korea. He will have to defend his title from a strong field of opponents. Europe is represented by 14 athletes from 10 federation, among them the European Champion Seymen Ozbas from Turkiye that can be counted among the favourites together with Amir Ibraimov (World Vice Champion in 2023) and many other (see players list). Turkiye and South Korea are the most represented countries with 3 nominations each. The organizer wild card has been awarded to Tangui Duriez, France. The race for the title will be a tough one.
