The Juniors :
Another important championship is the 3-cushion event for players under 21, on the 2.84 table. Once again, four groups of four players will make up the field.
Carlos Anguita from Spain is the current world champion, so he will try to add the European title to his resume. Gwendal Marechal, Maxime Panaia, Tom Löwe and Joey de Kok are just a few of his dangerous rivals.
These are the four groups:
- Marechal, Seleventas, Back, Almeida.
- Anguita, Cebeoglu, Löwe, Muhovic.
- Mercader, de Kok, van Hees, Jensen.
- D’Agata, Panaia, Kogelbauer, Vink.
In the group stage, matches will be to 25, with a 50-inning limit. In the knock-out stage, the length will be 30 points.
In addition, Ronchin will also be host to the following championships in the same week:
- Free game for teams, under 19
- 5-pins individual, under 21
- Free game individual, under 17
- 3-cushion individual, under 17
- Free game individual, under 21.
The tournament will underline the mission statement made by the CEB last year: the advancement of junior and female players must be a priority for the European Confederation.
The CEB delegate in Ronchin is Dietmar Schintgen.
The Ladies :
Sixteen ladies will compete in Ronchin on the 2.30 table, from 31 March – 2 April, for the European Ladies Cup Libre. The French dominate the field: ten of their female players will have a shot at the title. A Belgian, two Austrians and three Dutch women complete the four flights of four.
The tournament in the very northern part of France (near Lille) will have Magali Declunder as one of the clear favorites. Her ten European titles will tell you all you need to know about her class. But Carolien Matthijs (BE) and Monique van Exter are also capable of winning these events. Heike Hingerl, Francine van Yperen and Christel Willemse did well in the 2017 edition of the Ladies Cup, so they will aim for the podium. Or could there be a surprise winner?
There is a first prize of 400 euro in Ronchin, a 300 euro reward for the silver, and both bronze medalists will receive 200 euro.
These are the four groups:
- Declunder, Livebardon, Jacques, Mouriks.
- Van Exter, Bellens, Gaultier, Hallier.
- Matthys, van Yperen, Ales, Steinberger.
- Willemse, Hingerl, Morel, Petit.
In the group stage, matches will be to 120. In the knock-out stage, the ladies will play to 150 points. There is no inning limit.
The CEB delegate in Ronchin is Diane WILD.
