The World Championship 3-Cushion had an unpredictable ending.
The young outsider Phuong Vinh Bao (28 years old) from Vietnam is the new world champion. He won the final against his more famed and favorite compatriot Quyet Chien Tran who took home the silver medal. Thirds on the podium Myung Woo Cho (South Korea) and Tayfun Tasdemir (Turkiye). The World Players Ranking had undergone significant changes: Marco Zanetti is now number 1, Dick Jaspers lost the leading position after a very long time and is now number 4, Cho is second and Blomdahl keeps is third position. Tran rises to number 5 and the new world champion Bao is number 11 coming from 21. Tasdemir goes down from 7th position to 10th.
