While waiting for the last stage to be held in Morangis from 8 to 11 November, this weekend in Bern is the second tournament of the Euro-League club teams. Twelve teams of four players from seven European countries will compete for three days. Each meeting between two clubs consists of two singles matches, a doubles and a relay where the four players of each team will each play a fraction. Asia and Europe were nicely balanced on the final day of the Ladies World Championship in Izmir, Turkey, both in the semifinals and in the final. Therese Klompenhouwer proved once again that she can do more than play well in the leagues. The Dutch woman overcame her strongest rival, Orie Hida, to win the world title for the third time. Izmir, Turkey’s third city, will be the center of the billiard world for a week. Two tournaments, both lasting three days, will be held back to back on the Anatolia coast. The World Cup season started in Antalya, with a win for Frédéric Caudron. Quyet Chien Tran then won in his home city of Ho Chi Minh, and Jaspers captured Blankenberge. The fourth World Cup of 2018 was again a victory march for the best player in the world. After the Asian dominance in Ho Chi Minh city, the World Cup in Blankenberge (Belgium) was once again a European affair. Even though aces like Caudron, Blomdahl and Zanetti went out early, a Dutchman saved the day.
