Deadline: 17.August - CEB Board has decided, considering the success of the 2018 edition, to give, for the 3 coming seasons, the organization of Coupe d’Europe 3C (qualifications and final) to FC Porto. The World Cup season started in Antalya, with a win for Frédéric Caudron. Quyet Chien Tran then won in his home city of Ho Chi Minh, and Jaspers captured Blankenberge. The fourth World Cup of 2018 was again a victory march for the best player in the world. From 2 – 8 July, the fourth World Cup of 2018 will take place in Porto, Portugal, a city that has already seen such high-quality 3-cushion this year. You may remember, the European Championship for club teams recently took place there and the Turks of FBN Tekstil BSK were triumphant. After the Asian dominance in Ho Chi Minh city, the World Cup in Blankenberge (Belgium) was once again a European affair. Even though aces like Caudron, Blomdahl and Zanetti went out early, a Dutchman saved the day. Dick Jaspers, the best 3-cushion player in history to come from the Netherlands, had lost four World Cup finals in a row, and doubt was creeping in. After a long week in the Estadio Do Dragao, the Turkish foursome of Tekstil BSK were crowned the new European team champions. Tayfun Tasdemir, Murat Naci Coklu, Can Capak and Gokhan Salman were the strongest team on a final day with four teams left, and each of those had an honest chance of winning the event. Turkish national champion Gülsen Degener is the winner of the 2018 Ladies Cup, held in Rosmalen (the Netherlands). The 50-year old player upset the pre-tournament favorite Therese Klompenhouwer, beating her in a quality final: 30 – 24 in 28 innings. The well-known Sports Center De Hazelaar in Rosmalen (the Netherlands) will host the 2018 European Ladies Cup 3-cushion, from 8 – 10 June. It will be the last event in this format: from 2019, the women will once again participate in a women’s championship at the Brandenburg multi-EC.
